He is the son of late Prof S Bashiruddin, formerly the Head of the Dept of Journalism and Communication, Osmania University, who headed the Department for many years also served as Indian Ambassador to Qatar, Vice-Chancellor, Dr B R Ambedkar Open University and Director of the Research Wing of the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune and Dr Zeba Bashiruddin who was a member of the English Department, Sri Sathya Sai University.〔http://www.siasat.com/english/news/prof-zeba-basheeruddin-passed-away〕
